Botox injections are the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedure in the United States every year. While everyone knows these injections are a great way to reduce or eliminate blemishes on the face, Botox can also be used in several other ways. Botox works by blocking signals in the nerves near the injection sites. This makes it an effective treatment for several common medical conditions. These are the four most common ways Botox is used as a medical service.

Hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that causes excessive sweating. This sweating is caused by overactive sweat glands in the body, so it can happen at any time. There is no external cause for sweating, such as hot temperatures or excessive exercise. The sweating most commonly occurs on the hands, feet, and underarms. Injecting Botox in these areas will slow down the overactive glands to eliminate your sweating issues. The injections must be performed every four to six months in order to permanently solve the hyperhidrosis.

Chronic Migraines
A migraine is an extremely painful headache that causes nausea, head throbbing, and sensitivity to light. The symptoms can be so severe that they prevent you from getting out of bed. Chronic migraine sufferers can use Botox to help ease their pain. A few small injections on the head and neck will help block the pain receptors in the brain. This will drastically reduce the severity and prevalence of your migraines.

Eye Issues
Injecting Botox into the muscles surrounding the eye can help treat two common eye conditions. A lazy eye is caused by imbalanced muscles that are supposed to position the eye in the correct spot. The Botox helps balance these muscles to move the eye into a better location. Botox can also eliminate eye twitching by calming contracting muscles.

Urinary Incontinence
The bladder is responsible for holding and eliminating urine from the body. If the bladder starts to malfunction, then you may be unable to control your urine. Injecting Botox directly into the bladder relaxes the bladder muscles and cures your urinary incontinence. This will eliminate sudden urges to urinate, frequent urination, and involuntary loss of urine.
